Assess Medical Records & Analyze the Case

  • Identify and review relevant medical records, hospital policies and procedures, and other essential documents and tangible items.
  • Organize medical records in a format of your choosing. Summarize, translate, and interpret medical records.
  • Case analysis of the claims within the legal action as it relates to the care provided.
  • Write expert reports. A narrative report. Chronological summation of the medical records and events involved in the case. A timeline of the case’s issues.
  • Review and refer to policy and practice issues related to nursing competency
  • Prepare chronologies of the medical events involved in a case
  • Screen cases for merit
  • Define and evaluate SOC. Accurately assessing adherence to healthcare standards of practice.
  • Define deviations from, and adherences to, the applicable standards of care
  • Assess the alleged damages and/or injuries. Identify factors that caused or contributed to alleged damages and/or injuries. Evaluate causation and damages issues.
  • Clearly explain the facts and histories of health-related cases. Translate volumes of medical records into a language meaningful to the attorney.
  • Identify and recommend potential expert witnesses
  • Identify issues of tampering with medical records.
  • Develop written reports for use as study tools by the attorney

Assist with Discovery & Preparation for Court

  • Prepare deposition and trial questions
  • Prepare interrogatories
  • Review, analyze and summarize depositions, including past testimony
  • Review and collaborate on pain and suffering reports.
  • Assemble witness and evidence lists for trial. Identify potential defendants. Preparation of interrogatories. Participate in client interviews
  • Attend depositions, trials, review panels, and arbitration and mediation hearings
  • Attend IMEs and DMEs. Or, write reports for the MD who attended.
  • Assist in exhibit preparation.
  • Participate in case management.

Define Applicable Standards of Care

  • Identify and review relevant medical records, hospital policies and procedures, other essential documents, and tangible items
  • Organize, tab, and paginate medical records
  • Summarize and interpret medical records
  • Prepare chronologies of the medical events involved in a case
  • Screen cases for merit
  • Define the applicable standards of care
  • Define deviations from, and adherences to, the applicable standards of care
  • Assess the alleged damages and/or injuries
  • Identify causation issues, assess damages/injuries and identify contributing factors
  • Identify and recommend potential expert witnesses
  • Identify issues of tampering with the medical records
  • Develop written reports for use as study tools by the attorney

Work with Experts & Other Witnesses

  • Locate expert witnesses
  • Communicate with potential testifying experts
  • Analyze and compare expert witness reports and other work products. Deposition review.
  • Determine when necessary, then locate and review additional clinically active, well-qualified experts in the specialty required for the case, including nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, and other healthcare providers, who will give authoritative testimonies.

Healthcare Provider & Witness Liaison

  • Interview plaintiff and defense clients, key witnesses, and experts
  • Consult with healthcare providers
  • Serve as liaison between the attorney and healthcare providers, testifying experts, parties, witnesses, and other consultants
